Today, I’m thrilled to announce our partnership with Uber and the next evolution in urban mobility: Uber Park. Everyone in Los Angeles and Nashville (and more cities to come) can use their Uber app to access the Metropolis network and a seamless, checkout-free parking experience. You drive in, you drive out — that’s it. No tickets, no cash, no fumbling with payment kiosks, no circling around aimlessly and backing up the traffic behind you, no worrying about expired time, or paying for more time than used.

Uber Park is a new way to park — You enter your license plate into the Uber app, and each time you pull into a participating parking location, Metropolis’ technology immediately detects your car’s arrival and triggers a push notification confirming the start of the parking session. Once you’re ready to depart, you simply drive out and your Uber account is charged for the duration of your stay.

L.A. consistently ranks among the worst in the nation for traffic congestion, and as an L.A.-grown company, we founded Metropolis with the mission to create mobility solutions for the transportation needs of our city, and cities around the country. With Uber Park, we are able to place our technology in the hands of millions of Uber customers and deliver a seamless experience, taking cars off the streets and getting customers where they want to be. We’re making parking as easy as requesting an Uber.

I am very grateful to the Metropolis and Uber teams, as well as the investors that helped us get here including 3L Capital, 01 Advisors (01A), Dragoneer, Slow Ventures, Zigg Capital, Starwood, RXR, DivcoWest, Halogen and Baron Davis.
